Client Testimonials

Hi Deb! I wanted you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed the class you gave. I am now inspired to use this camera! You sure have a gift for teaching, and I look forward to browsing through your photos. Thank you for an insightful class!"

"Oh Deb! I took a photo of the kids this morning, the [exposure] triangle thing was in my mind ...and the picture was PERFECT!!!! no more auto green button! You are awesome, you need to take our family picture next month. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Merry Christmas!" Mai H.

"Debbie made class fun and informative, very clear teaching style - most enjoyable class I've ever taken." Melva Shrum

"Debbie was very personable and friendly. Content was excellent and she taught it very well." Nadia Arensdorf

"Warning! If your kids want to take photography with Mrs. Evans, be forewarned. They will change all the settings on your camera! They will shake their head with pity when you insist on using automatic settings! They will tell the guy taking Christmas pictures of your family at the mall that he is using too much flash! They will ask for a new camera for birthdays and Christmas and everything in between! They will beg to take Photography II with Mrs. Evans next year! Aaron has absolutely loved photography class! He has learned a lot and had a great time this year! Thanks Mrs. Evans!" ~ Dixie Picard, mother of student

"I feel like I learned a lot about photography. I find it harder to take pictures now because I don't just shoot indiscriminately! Deb is an excellent teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed the course." Lloyd A. Baird, adult student

"Debbie was very friendly and presented the content in an easy-to-understand way." Adult student, anonymous class evaluation

"Mrs. Deb is the best photography teacher ever! Her class is really fun, but I also learned a lot too. I learned how to do shallow depth of field, and I learned about F stop and shutter speed. My mom says my pictures are a whole lot better than they were at the beginning of the year. My mom also made me the official photographer of the family! Mrs. Deb’s class is probably my favorite class I take." Katie Peoples, age 12

“It’s a very fun class and you would be very lucky to take it. We do a bunch of fun stuff and you learn a whole lot about your camera and how to take better pictures. My favorite things I’ve learned about are the F-Stop and shutter speed, but knowing what the white balance is and how changing it will effect my picture is awesome, as well.” Ryan Ramsower – age 9.75 years

"I know [my son is] learning, because he’ll begin discussing something like white balance or aperture or something as we are driving down the road. He will call my Dad, who was a professional photographer for many years, and start telling him information, as if he wouldn’t already know it. Dad just plays along." Mary Ramsower, mother of student

Using CURVES Tool in Photoshop - Tutorial

"The Photoshop curves tool is perhaps the most powerful and flexible image transformation, yet it may also be one of the most intimidating. Since photographers effectively paint with light, curves is central to their practice because it affects light's two primary influences: tones and contrast. Tonal curves are also what give different film types their unique character, so understanding how they work allows one to mimic any film — without ever having to retake the photograph.Similar to …See More

Deb Evans teaches photography to amateurs, hobbyists, and professionals through workshops, classes, and tutorials - both online and in-person throughout the Greater Houston area. This web site is your headquarters for Deb's photography education resources.

Currently, we are only offering private and semi-private classes. Online classes will be coming at some point in 2012.

About our Classes and Workshops: Classes are developed and taught by professional photographer Deb Evans. Deb has taught photography for several years, including classes at Montgomery College and other private education programs, as well as through her own business, Right Brain Classes. Deb continually offers her students nurturing feedback and encouraging support. Although some classes teach advanced photographic techniques, all classes focus on composition, art, and natural lighting - skills that any photographer can use, regardless of equipment.

Private Photography Classes – Deb's classes focus on composition, lighting, and exposure techniques, although classes can be completely personalized and customized to your needs, whether you just want to learn how to use your new camera or whether you are ready to learn advanced skills. She will come to your home or meet you in a neutral location.

Private One-on-OneClass Fees: $200/ 2 hours
Semi-Private: (2-10 students): 2 1/2 hour class • $300 (divided among the students, i.e. 4 students would be $75/each) To arrange a semi-private class, you are responsible for providing a location and getting together a group of your friends, family, co-workers, etc. who are also interested in learning photography skills. These small group classes are always a lot of fun. Make it a party by including refreshments!

* a travel fee may apply outside of The Woodlands/Conroe area

Mentored PhotoWalks - Schedule your own photowalk for a minimum of four photographers, or sign up for one of our scheduled walks. You will be guided by professional photographer Deb Evans - answering your questions, offering advice, and showing you how she approaches different subjects... what settings she uses, how she uses lighting, and more. PhotoWalk fees are $100/hour, divided among the participants (maximum 10). Please note that if the location charges an entrance fee, that fee will be in addition to class charge.

For the best foundation, Deb recommends that students book the two-hour minimum class to cover the basics, then add a photowalk, additional private lessons, or an intermediate workshop for hands-on guidance and more in-depth material. Please note that you will not learn everything there is to know about photography in a two-hour workshop!
